Cultured Cells
Cultured cells or cells in a monolayer are most often viewed using an inverted microscope. In these instances, the best manipulator is one that has orthogonal axes in XYZ and can provide a steep angle for the tip. For this application, the Burleigh® PCS-6000 is the recommended product.
Burleigh® PCS-500 Mount fixes directly to your inverted microscope allowing the standard microscope X-Y stage to move freely beneath it while supporting the Burleigh® PCS-6200 manipulator in the cultured slice configuration (C-configuration). For longer piezo travel we also offer the Burleigh® PCS-6300 and Burleigh® PCS-6400 models.
In general, the recommended equipment configuration for cultured cell recording would be:
- PCS-500 Mount
- PCS-6200-C
- PCS-500-SSH (steep shallow head adaptor); for steep angles
For Dual applications, Dual-sided Burleigh® PCS-500 Mounts
and Burleigh® PCS-6200-C micromanipulator
options are available.
Burleigh® PCS-6200-C
| Features | Benefits |
|---|---|
| 25mm of motorized motion in three linear axes | Coarse positioning without touching the manipulator |
| 150 µm of piezo motion in all three axes | Piezo motion provides ultra smooth positioning, essentially turning finger movements into nanometer precision |
| Drift specification of better than 1 µm per hour | Stable patching, providing results faster and with less frustration |
| Easy tip exchange made possible by two rotary stages with adjustable stops | Tip exchange can be accomplished rapidly and easily, in some cases saving as much as 90 minutes of recording time per day |
| XYZ axis | Position the tip over the cell with X and Y and patch using the Z-axis |
| Two year warranty | Peace of mind |
